When I think of Blackpool, I don’t always think of it as a cheap place to visit, especially when I take Lucas, who would happily spend all day at Coral Island on the coin machines. While Blackpool may have a reputation for being expensive, there are plenty of free things to do in the town that won’t break the bank.
Visiting Blackpool on a budget
It’s worth investing in a tastecard if you’re looking for paid attractions. Purchasing a tastecard is a great option for meal deals Blackpool and days out. It offers discounts on a variety of restaurants. On average, members save up to £276 on dining out yearly with tastecard! Each time you eat out, you can save an average of £23 per meal. Tastecard currently offers a 60-day trial for only £1 (renewing at £39.99 for the year). I used ours at Bella Italia, and our bill went from £43.66 to £29.07. The tastecard can also be used at attractions such as Odeon and Vue cinemas, Madame Tussauds, Sea Life, Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Tower Dungeon, Afternoon tea at Blackpool Tower and Blackpool Tower Circus. I used our tastecard for entrance into Sea Life too, saving £7.
Free activities to enjoy in Blackpool
Visit the Blackpool Tower Ballroom
While entering the Blackpool Tower is not free, you can enjoy the stunning Ballroom for free. The Ballroom has been popular for over a century and features a beautiful sprung dance floor and ornate architecture.
Stroll along the promenade
One of the best things to do in Blackpool is to take a leisurely stroll along the promenade. The promenade stretches for miles and offers stunning views of the seafront. You can take in the fresh sea air, enjoy the sunshine (if you’re lucky!), and watch the world go by.
Visit the beach
Whether you want to build sandcastles, paddle in the sea, or simply relax and soak up the sun, the beach is the perfect place to spend a few hours.
Explore Blackpool Illuminations
Blackpool Illuminations is a stunning light display that runs from late August until early November each year. The display features over a million lights and is completely free to enjoy. You can walk or drive through the display, and it’s a magical experience for adults and children.
