The arrival of the warm weather in recent weeks has put a spring in the step of many of us in the UK. With the temperature slowly increasing and the days getting longer, it is almost getting to BBQ season!
It is hard to beat having friends and/or family over for a BBQ in the warmer months, but what can you do to ensure you host the perfect event?
Comfort
Food will be a priority, but you must also consider comfort. It doesn’t matter how tasty your burgers are; if people cannot sit down and relax, they will struggle to have a good time.
This is why you must ensure enough seating for everyone and bring out cushions, throws, and blankets for people to get cosy. You can also create a cosy feel once the sun goes down with festoon lights that will illuminate the space. Decorative touches like bunting can also create a party-like atmosphere, which can get people in the right mood.
Food
Of course, food is a key area to focus on. You should always ask for any dietary restrictions or allergies ahead of time and plan dishes suitable for all. You can get recipes online for different BBQ dishes, but make sure you are not challenging yourself too much. You will also find that many side dishes can be done beforehand to save time and energy.
Drinks
Nothing is worse than running out of drinks at a BBQ, but this can easily happen if you are not careful and do not know how many people are coming. This is why you must get a ballpark figure to stock up on drinks.
This could include beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks. Encouraging people to bring their own drinks is helpful, as this should reduce the risk of them running out, and you will likely have some left over!
Additionally, make sure you have a way to keep drinks cool and easily accessible, whether you use your indoor refrigerator or a convenient cooler. If you are handling the cooking, you might want someone else to handle drinks to make things easier.
Entertainment
The above will be the foundation of a great BBQ, but you should also consider entertainment to make the event more memorable and enjoyable. This could include trivia, card games, lawn games, or scavenger hunts for the kids. You can also collaborate on a playlist using Spotify Blend (or there are many BBQ-themed pre-made playlists to choose from).
These are the key ingredients for a perfect BBQ with friends and/or family at home. Hopefully, this post will help elevate your BBQ game and impress your loved ones this summer.
