We chose Aquascope to celebrate Lucas’ 11th birthday with two of his friends (all turning 11 within days of each other), and it turned out to be the perfect high-energy day out for pre-teens.

Where Is Aquascope?
Aquascope is part of the Futuroscope resort in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, in western France.
It’s a 6,000m² fully indoor, temperature-controlled water park designed with immersive lighting, music and digital effects.
That indoor element makes it ideal year-round, especially outside of summer.
Aquascope Review: What Makes It Different?
This isn’t a typical municipal swimming pool with a couple of slides.
Aquascope combines:
- Eight large-scale water slides
- Immersive projection and lighting effects
- A wave pool
- A lazy river
- An aquatic cinema-style experience
The lighting inside some slides gives them a futuristic feel, almost like a theme park attraction rather than just a water ride.
For 11-year-olds, that extra sensory element made a huge difference.
The Slides: Are They Good for 10–12 Year Olds?
In this Aquascope review, the slides are the highlight.
There’s a strong mix of:
- Multi-person raft slides (great for birthday laughs)
- Enclosed tube slides with immersive light effects
- Faster single-person options
For confident swimmers aged 10–12, it feels exciting without being extreme.

For us, the experience itself became the birthday celebration, no party room needed, and the photos from the day would make a creative custom photo calendar to remember the fun long after the trip.

If you’re expecting a massive outdoor resort-style water park, adjust expectations. But if you want something immersive, modern and energetic, it delivers.
Final Verdict: Our Aquascope Review
We decided to stay overnight near Futuroscope and chose The Originals City, Hotel Alteora, which worked really well for our visit. It isn’t one of the official Futuroscope hotels, but that actually helps keep the price down. Another big advantage is the location, you can easily walk to Aquascope from the hotel and leave your car in the free hotel parking.
We booked the room for the evening before our Aquascope visit so we could relax and not rush in the morning.
Before heading to the hotel, we had dinner at the Space Loop restaurant, which was a fun experience in itself. The food is delivered to your table on looping tracks, which the boys thought was brilliant. Afterwards, back at the hotel, we spent some time in the bar area playing board games and also tried out the small arcade room.
The next morning, we had a 10 am Aquascope entry slot, and we stayed until around 4:45 pm, so it ended up being a full day in the park.
The boys absolutely loved the slides, the lazy river and the cinema-style pool. There is also a smaller area designed for younger children, but I was actually glad we hadn’t brought my younger daughter. She is below the height requirement for many of the main slides, which would have meant splitting up instead of enjoying the attractions together.
There’s a snack bar inside Aquascope that you can visit without needing to change, which is handy if you want to grab food during your session. In our case, the boys were having too much fun to stop. They had eaten a good breakfast before we entered the park, and we grabbed something to eat afterwards instead.
It was a fantastic day out and one we would happily do again.
