We are big fans of Brio having already got the builder deluxe set and Lucas can’t get enough of trains so when we were offered the Brio Metro Railway Set to review*, I couldn’t wait to show Lucas.
The set includes a train, 2 carriages, a station, tunnel, 2 people, a suitcase, buffer stop, ticket machine, map with base and wooden track with a junction track. The people can be seated in the train, carriages or the station.
To start off with Lucas thought the train should move by itself but once I told him he needed to move it, he was quite happy and I think it helped his playing more as he had to use his imagination rather than press a button for the train to control itself.
There are lights and sounds on the train which increase the faster Lucas pushes the train. The station also has sliding doors that Lucas can open to help the people go through and Lucas enjoys getting them to sit in the station whilst the train does a lap then he picks them up.
Lucas has already had hours of fun and I’m sure will have plenty more with this set. What I really like, is the size of it, it is fab for carrying inside and out if you are going travelling and want to take with you.
Toys like these are great for an abundance of things at this age, from their dexterity, hand eye co-ordination and encouraging free play to use their imagination and explore the world themselves. Brio are also conscious of the impact their products can have on the environment and ensure they only use wood from FSC certified wood. They also continuously strive to improve their way of working so they can minimise their carbon footprint x

Now that is one awesome looking train set! I love how wooden toys seem to be coming back into fashion as well.

This looks like a great train set and I think wooden ones last so much nicer than plastic ones x

My son would of loved this and although he still loves trains he doesn’t play with train sets anymore, he would want it but he just wouldn’t play with it which is a shame as it’s lovely x

My brothers used to have a wooden train set when they were his age (which was about 25 years ago!) – so it’s great to see that kids are still playing with traditional toys like this 🙂 x

My eldest (now 18) used to play with these awesome Brio wooden train sets. If I’m to be honest though, I think I enjoyed them more than he did! I LOVE them! 😀 I kept every piece too. For the grandkids, y’know…. 😉

Brio train tracks are so gorgeous! We had a few when Luke was little and he used to love playing with them. I can’t wait for baby number 2 to be old enough to play trains again so I can get them all out of the loft. Lovely review, looks like you had lots of fun playing together.
