Excuse me whilst I let the wet nurse in to feed the baby x
Excuse me whilst I let the nursery nurse in to play with and stimulate the baby x
Excuse me whilst I let the nanny in to bathe and dress the baby x
Excuse me whilst I let the cleaner in to clean, tidy, dust and hoover. Baby loves her the best, nothing like having someone put everything away just so you can get it out again…so much fun x
Excuse me whilst I let the window cleaner in to do the inside on the windows x
Excuse me whilst I let the cook in to prepare baby’s meals and chop ingredients up for our tea x
Excuse me whilst I let the electrician in to change the bulbs x
Excuse me whilst I let the gas engineer in to bleed the radiators x
Excuse me whilst I let the handyman in to put the baby gates up, the tv straps on, the cupboard locks and lower the baby’s cot x
Excuse me whilst I let the maid in to wash and put away our clothes, towels and bed linen x
Excuse me whilst I let the bin fairy in to sort the recycling and put the bins out x
Excuse me whilst I let our personal shopper in, she has been to get our supplies x
Gosh, it must be letting all these people in that has stopped my bum from going numb this past year x
Parenting takes many forms but it is the most rewarding job in the world xx

It’s just as well all those fairies do those jobs in your house. If one person had to do all that, they’d be permanently knackered! 😉
Joanna says
I’m surprised how us mums are able to get everything done.
Although we are always busy and knackred most of the time patenting is so rewarding.

This made me chuckle. One of my good friends is returning back to work tomorrow after her Maternity leave and although she is sad to be leaving her baby she is happy to go back to work for a rest!! hahaha

I was describing myself as head of catering, personal stylist and shopper, manager of dairy production and delivery etc. Got to laugh or you cry.
Cathy ( MummyTravels ) says
Haha, absolutely. I wish any one of those would drop in briefly (although thankfully I do have my own personal bin fairy)

Loved reading this. I don’t think some people realise what we do all day. It’s tough being a mum because it’s not just about your child it’s everything else to. Thanks for sharing.
Rachel says
Ha loved this, I did wonder what you SAHM did all day 😉 In all honesty though, I dont think people do realise or appreciate that it isnt a case of watching Jeremy Kyle and faffing x
Lilinha says
Hahaha very interesting blog post. After maternity leave, I couldn’t wait to go back to work as some people seem to think that SAHM don’t do anything. They actually do more than anyone else! 🙂

Mum’s do so much and yet we do not appreciate them as fully as we should. Not everyone can do what mothers do
Charlotte says
haha this is so true! it is a pet peeve of mine when people act like i do nothing all day (aside from the fact I work and volunteer from home as well as all of these things) but apparently none of this stuff counts!
Ana De- Jesus says
That did make me chuckle people think that parenting is so easy but it really isn’t and people need to acknowledge parents hard work!
You Baby Me Mummy says
Ah yes parenting is so easy with all these people around to help 😉 x
Kara says
But when you go to work you have to do all this too and the job *just sayin*
Steph says
Hahaha! I love this! I have recently gone onto maternity leave and my colleagues have said to me, “Oh, you’ll enjoy your year off!”, “Enjoy your year’s holiday!” and “How nice it must be to be able to take a year out to rest”. Oh, how wrong they all are…
Jenni says
Oh yes, I’m back to work next month. Just makes me chuckle that some people view maternity leave as a year off x
Alex Lamb & Bear says
Love this! I hate it when people think being a stay at home mum is a ‘holiday’.
Mummy Lala (Laura) says
If only we had all of those people around to help! The amount of people who think I just sit and home and do nothing all day just because I’m a stay at home mum is remarkable!!! Gets me so angry!

Gosh – and I am a mum to four! Add Uni, college, GCSE’s and teen angst into the mix for me – I deserve a medal!! Seriously, I would not change a thing. Great post, thank you. Kaz x
Candace says
Life isn’t easy when you have children and although the demands change as they get older, children still take over your life and you end up not stopping all day
