As the seasons change, our skin begins to notice the difference in the weather. During the season of autumn, it’s common for people to experience dry skin as the temperature decreases and it starts getting colder and windier outside. If you experience skin issues during this season, check out these autumn skincare tips that will have your face looking hydrated, clear, and healthy all year long.
Wash with a Gentle Cleanser
Be sure to wash your face with a gentle cleanser twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. Many people use cleansers that contain ingredients that aren’t good for the skin. Instead of doing that, use a mild yet effective and gentle facial cleanser. These products remove dirt and oils without containing dozens of harmful ingredients that would clog the pores. I use Tropic skincare smoothing cleanser. Using jojoba oil that has similar properties to your skin’s own sebum, green tea extract to fight free radicals, and aloe vera juice to provide a rush of moisture, it leaves the complexion soft and springy.
Use a High-Quality Facial Oil
Incorporate the use of high-quality facial oil into your daily routine. Facial oil with active botanical oils that soothe, strengthen, and nourish will work wonders on the skin. After you’ve washed your face using the gentle cleanser, pat dry and then gently rub the facial serum around the skin. The oils leave the skin hydrated to fight excess dryness and have anti-inflammatory properties that fight irritation and redness from blemishes. The right oil works to protect the skin.
Don’t Skip Out on the Daily Moisturiser
In addition to facial oil that you can apply nightly or twice daily, don’t skip out on using a daily moisturiser. Of course, this involves finding a moisturiser that works for you. It all depends on your skin type. When you have dry skin, using a thicker moisturiser is ideal. However, if you have combo or oily skin, you may need something lighter that won’t feel too heavy when applied to your face. Even if your skin is oily, you still need to moisturise it. There is a good chance it’s oily because it lacks the hydration it needs.
Avoid the Abrasive, Harsh Products
Don’t waste your time buying or using the abrasive, harsh products on the market. Some products marketed to skincare enthusiasts contain ingredients that are too rough for the skin and can cause mini tears. If you don’t want to damage your skin and clog your pores, skip these products, even if they’re added to aesthetically pleasing packaging to try to entice consumers to buy those products.
Spot Treat When You Need To
Always spot treat blemishes when you need to do so. For example, if you see a pimple popping up, treat it on the spot with a bit of benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Both products work well at fighting inflammation and shrinking blemishes of all sizes. You can spot treat your blemishes after you’ve washed your face and applied your facial oil. I use tea tree oil and just dab a little directly onto the spot.
If you follow these simple yet effective skin care tips for the autumn season, you can expect to have healthy and beautiful skin that glows. Using the right products makes a difference.
