Last Sunday, I went to BlogOn in Manchester. I went in September and it was my first blogging conference, I met 2 other bloggers at the train station that I knew through other people and we nervously went together, none of us knowing what to expect. It was a fab experience, I learnt lots and took home a suitcase full of Free Samples.
This time, I was so looking forward to it. I got a lift from a lovely local blogger, Raimy, I met at Brockholes last year. I knew what to expect in respect to how the layout would be, what sessions would be like and I knew people who were going to be there.
I talk daily to some bloggers online, including Fran, Faye, Alice and Jess who were going. When you talk to someone that often you feel like you know them even if you haven’t met. When we met up, we greeted eachother with a hug and it really was like meeting up with old friends. The atmosphere in the place was friendly and relaxed. You can wander round chatting to other bloggers and brands.
I attended 4 sessions, Advertising and promoting, video editing, advanced blogging shite and photo editing. I met some amazing brands including Varta, who have since sent me a fab package of chargers, head torches and a camping lamp for taking to Geronimo this weekend. There were an incredible range of brands from teething brands, children’s toys, clothes, food, drinks and electricals.
There are giveaways from the brands, a raffle and tombola. I won a Lil’ Crazy cart that goes up to 2mph, I can not wait for it to arrive and see Lucas’ face. The tombola and raffle has raised money for a specific chosen charity each event, but this year they have introduced the BlogOn Community Fund. ‘For Bloggers By Bloggers’ is the motto and the funds raised at each BlogOn help bloggers in emergency situations.
I can definitely recommend BlogOn for your first bloggers conference, it is relaxed, welcoming and there is so much to learn x
