Japanese Moony Nappy Review

January 30, 2016 by Jenni

PR Sample

I have tried many brands of nappies and keep returning to Mamia for its reliable dryness. When I was offered to try a nappy from Japan, I was intrigued to see if it would tear me away from them.

Moony nappies from Japanese Nappies are available in both nappy style and pants style. I asked if I could try the pull on pants as Lucas has become a little escape artist at changing time and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to put a nappy back on him.

Unlike the nappies we get in the UK, these nappies have variations according to the sex of the baby as well as the stage they are up to. Lucas is in size 4 nappies and was sent a pack of size large which are suitable for 9-14 kg (approximately 19.8 – 30.9 lbs).

My first impressions of the nappies were that they feel very soft, thin and I immediately loved that they have a wetness indicator. The lines on the outer of the nappy turn from yellow to blue when they nappy is wet. Japanese Nappies are made from organic materials and claim to have a special filler inside the nappy with high absorbancy levels to eliminate heavy nappies. They also say that the inside of the nappy is soaked with Vitamin E to protect from nappy rash and making them perfect for sensitive skin.

Japanese nappies

I’m going to start with the negative points. The nappies didn’t keep Lucas dry throughout the night. After 10 hours the nappy had leaked making his sleepsuit and sleeping bag wet.

The real downside of these nappies though are the price, as I love Mamia nappies I class Pampers as expensive but these are in a whole new category at £22.50 for a pack of 44, which even if they did keep Lucas dry throughout the night, I just could not justify spending that much on nappies.

I did like these nappies though. I found these nappies to be great during the day, they fit really well and we didn’t have any leakages. The sides of the nappy easily ripped when needed to clean up without pulling them down the legs. I also found nappy changes a lot easier as I could put these on even when Lucas was crawling away from me. The nappies have a sticky tab to fold the nappy up once it has been used.

If you would like to try a pack for yourself, please enter below x
