I made a wedding planner file for my friend whose engagement party we went to at the weekend, it was the first function D and I have been to together without Lucas since he was born. My parents babysat for us, it was lovely being out together without having Lucas distracting us. I couldn’t manage staying out too late, by 9pm, I was itching to get back to him. When we returned at 10.20, Lucas was sat in the living room watching TV with Grandma and Grandad, he had woken at 8.15 and wouldn’t go back to sleep. Didn’t make him sleep any longer the morning after though, up bright and early as usual x
I know you can do all the planning online now but my friend is a bit if a geek when it comes to things like this and will love having an actual file. She even has a file for her takeaway menus and she has them in alphabetical order! I also thought it would be something nice to put in her wedding memory box.
I bought a plain file and a pack of red hearts from WHSmith to decorate it. I also bought a pack of doilies and roll of red ribbon from The Range. I already had a pack of black letters in from Hobbycraft.
I typed up a wedding planner checklist in various sections from 12 months plus to the day of the wedding. I also made her an email address and put details of that in the file so she can use the email for anything wedding related. I researched wedding fairs in our area and typed these up, including all the details.
I put in dividers for her to section everything off and make it easier to find. I added some labels to one pack of dividers but also put an extra pack in behind them for anything she wants to add.
At the back of the file I put a plastic wallet and stuck an envelope to the file for any business cards, material samples, bits and bobs she may pick up on the way to the big day. I also put some lined paper in and post it notes in for her to write notes or use as book marks x

This is such a great gift. You’ll also be unsurprised to learn that I think every parent goes through the feeling of being out for the first time without a newborn, and then itching to get home!

These would make great gifts – i wish I knew someone as organised as this when I was planning mine!! I have to say we didn’t do much planning at all (much to the hate of our mothers) :p
