Are you looking for a quick, easy peanut butter cookie recipe for the kids? I’ll show you how to make the simple Valentine-inspired peanut butter cookies that Lucas whipped up a few weeks ago. These can, of course, be kept plain or decorated for other occasions throughout the year. What’s best about this recipe is that the kids can make it without extra help. You could make these at a children’s birthday party with them for some hands-on, cooking fun. This will surely make their childhood unforgettable!
Ingredients:
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of peanut butter
1 egg
Procedure:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C
- In a large mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients together 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, and 1 egg until smooth.
- Scoop the dough with a spoon onto a nonstick baking tray. If you don’t have a scoop, you may roll the dough into 1″ balls with your hands.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then let it cool for 1-2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- We finished off with chocolate sauce and heart sprinkles, but you can add your favourite toppings or something seasonal.
Voila! You now have a yummy and easy-to-make peanut butter cookie. Enjoy it while watching movies, or simply sit and chat with the kids while munching on warm cookies. This is best served with a glass of milk or hot chocolate.
Make sure to keep it in an airtight container at room temperature and eat within 5 days, although ours never last that long before being eaten!
Other cookie-topping ideas
- A splash of vanilla essence in the mixture before baking
- Chocolate frosting
- Vanilla frosting
- M&Ms or Smarties
