Tips for Throwing a Summer Garden Party

June 21, 2022 by Jenni

We brits are a social bunch. If you love having people over and entertaining, it makes sense that you’ll want to host summer garden parties for you and your loved ones. With summer here and the glorious weather (hopefully) rearing its head, now is the time to get organising a fun-filled bash.

To help you throw a summer garden party like no other, here are some useful tips that you’re sure to benefit from.

Establish a Budget

First and foremost, you need to establish a budget for your summer garden extravaganza. Whether you’re throwing an intimate affair or going all out, there are lots of factors that make a garden party, but cost money too! This includes food, drinks, and outdoor furniture. Don’t feel like you have to bear the brunt of everything on your own. If you’re on a tight budget, ask loved ones to arrive with a dish or two. Your garden summer party doesn’t have to break the bank. A bit of careful planning and money management will ensure you don’t overspend on your bash.

Plan for All Weather

While you’ll hope for glorious sunshine for your garden party, luck may not be on your side. If you can’t shift the date and the heavens have opened, that doesn’t mean the occasion has to be taken indoors. To protect you and your guests from the rain or sun, consider looking into verandas from Nationwide Home Innovations. They sell verandas, pergolas, and awnings that can provide shelter without having to head inside. Make sure to buy durable outdoor furniture too.

Stock Up on Food

When hosting a summer garden party, you’re going to want to ensure all guests are well fed. Therefore, now is the time to stock up on food, and lots of it! You don’t want hungry attendees, so always plan to buy and prepare more food than you think you’ll need. To keep costs down, it’s worth buying in bulk. Anything you have left over can go in the freezer or be given to your guests to take home. Popular summer food favourites include grilled chicken, kebabs, burgers, and pulled pork. Make sure to stock up on paper plates and napkins too, and, don’t forget the condiments!

Make a Guest List

If you’ve decided a summer garden party is a way to go, you need to work out how many people will be flocking to yours. This can help you plan your bash accordingly. From how many seats you’ll need to the amount of food to buy, having a rough idea of numbers will be a big help. Also, find out if anyone has any food allergies beforehand. Always have vegetarian and vegan dishes handy too.

Think About Entertainment

You’ll want your guests to be entertained from start to finish during your garden party. Therefore, make sure you’ve got lots of fun games everyone can join in on. Music is a big part of any event, so be sure to create a Spotify playlist in advance so the tunes keep flowing.

Before proceedings get underway, getting organised and using our advice above will ensure you throw a summer garden party that everyone will remember for years to come.
