People do get frustrated when it comes to cleaning windows. So often, no matter how hard we try to clean those pesky marks, they won’t go away. We have all admired how professional window cleaners with a squeegee and a rag can turn a grubby window into a spotlessly clean one in under a minute.
Unfortunately, most people are not professional window cleaners and can only look on in awe.
If no window cleaner is handy, one must tackle the job alone. In the supermarkets, you can find a wide range of products for cleaning windows. Which one do you choose for the job, or are there substances in your homes already that might be perfect for cleaning windows to a crystal-clear shine? Yes, there are common substances in the home that are just right for the job.
First, make sure the cloths are freshly washed and have not previously been used for polishing with furniture polish etc. Also, avoid washing cloths and rags with fabric conditioner, as any residue on the cloth will be transmitted to the window you’re attempting to clean. You might try a bowl of hot water and squirt in a small amount of baby shampoo, wipe the window clean and allow it to dry by itself.
Another method is to use vinegar on the windows. White vinegar has an abundance of uses around the house. You might try the combination of vinegar and wiping down with newspaper to dry; this can produce sparkling windows.
Some people use washing powder on their windows and swear excellent results. You might try proprietary products like shop-bought window cleaners. Be sure to use a clean and dry cloth with these products.
You might consider a product like rain repellent on a cleaned window. This substance will allow rain to drip off the window without staining. It will also deter grime and dust from settling on the window.
Remember not to wash your windows in bright sunshine as you’ll miss marks because they cannot be seen until later. It is also good when drying the window to wipe across the window and then down it. Clean both sides of the window pane until all the marks are removed.
