Celebrating On A Budget: Our Quick Tips

February 15, 2023 by Jenni

Collaborative post

It is an expensive process to throw a party, whether it’s an all-night rager, a dinner party with the family, or a cute birthday party for the kids. You’ve got a lot of food to prepare, a lot of decorations to set up, and some entertainment to lay out – that’s a lot of money at the end of the day! And when you’re on a strict budget, as many of us are right now, throwing a party seems impossible. But even when you have maybe £20 and some free time to prepare, you can celebrate well and have a lot of fun. Check out how below!

Papercraft Goes a Long Way

Papercraft consists of many different skills, which means you can have real fun making the decorations yourself. From cutting out snowflakes for something winter wonderland themed to drawing up your own banners and creating bunting for a street party, you can make all the set dressing entirely on your own.

It might take a bit more time, but you can choose your own colours and materials, as well as the sizes and shapes, giving you much freedom and creativity. If you want to hang up cut outs of your child’s favourite characters, you won’t find them ready to go down the shops!

Bake Instead of Buying

If you bake your own food, you don’t have to buy premium-priced doughnuts or cakes from the supermarket – genius! You just need to fork out for some flour and sugar, butter and eggs, and trust us, that’ll be a fraction of the price and you can do so much more with it all.

You won’t need to use the whole bag of flour on one baked good, meaning you can make two or three different ones, and that’s a lot more fun for anyone attending! More to indulge in and enjoy, even if you consider yourself less than an amateur. As long as it tastes good, you don’t have to be an expert icer!

Buy a Collection of Small Gifts

Small gifts are fun! They’re a lot less expensive than one big gift, meaning you can buy a few more with the same budget. And who doesn’t love having a couple more presents to open on their big day? Head into the ‘Under £10’ section of any gift-giving website to find some perfect fits.

Indeed, if you shop small, you’ll make your money go much further, making the celebration seem a lot bigger. A happy birthday card and a small novelty item are always a great combo. Or buying chocolates or biscuits alongside some flowers or stationery will go down a treat!

If you’re about to celebrate something but you’re worried about a low budget, let us take the weight off. You can have a lot of fun decorating, baking, and supplying for a bash with little money!
