Benefits of grape seed oil

May 1, 2023 by Jenni

The benefits of using grape seed oil have only recently been discovered; therefore, little research has been done. However, the individual ingredients within grape seed oil have been proven to have many benefits to the skin.

One of these benefits is its high levels of linoleic Acid. This is an Omega-3 fatty acid and can help prevent acne breakouts by decreasing clogged pores. linoleic acid is also good at hydrating the skin and protecting its barrier.

Grape seed oil is also high in Vitamin E. This is vital to skin maintenance. High levels of Vitamin E can help cuts and bruises heal, prevent scars, and protect the skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Grape seed oil is high in antioxidants, preventing free radicals (unstable molecules that can damage skin). antioxidants such as proanthocyanin can help the skin to remain smooth and firm. These can ensure you look younger for longer but can also help to prevent skin cancer. Similarly, Polyphenols found in grape seed oil can also have an anti-ageing effect. They can reverse the signs of ageing by reducing the number of fine lines and wrinkles.

Another antioxidant found in grape seed oil is proanthocyanin. The main benefit is that it can even skin tone and prevent hyperpigmentation. Phytosterols also are found in grape seed oil. These, normally found in plants, act as an anti-inflammatory. This means they help to reduce inflammation of the skin. This particularly benefits individuals who suffer from inflammatory conditions such as Eczema.

The grape seed oil has many benefits for your skin. It is very versatile and can be added to many creams and lotions. Although research is only just beginning, early studies started to show its benefits. Some studies have suggested that grape seed oil has similar benefits to olive oil however is lighter and does not leave a greasy residue meaning it is better for those with greasy or acne-prone skin.
