Create An Amazing Bedroom For Your Kid To Make Them Happy

October 29, 2024 by Jenni

If you have decided to redo your kids bedroom, it’s going to be a super exciting time for both them and you. It’s exciting for them because they get an awesome new bedroom, and it’s exciting for you because you get to make them happy in such an important and cute way! When it comes to actually creating the bedroom though, there are certain things that you should consider doing to get this right, and it will all depend on your child. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the options that you’ve got when it comes to creating an amazing bedroom for your kid, so keep reading if you would like to find out more.

Paint It Their Favourite Colour

The first thing that we’re going to recommend is that you paint it their favourite colour. This might not seem like a big deal to us as adults, but as a child getting to have your favourite colour all over your walls is a huge deal. It’s so exciting and that’s why you want to ensure that you get the exact right colour. If you’re not planning on having them involved in the process and instead are hoping to surprise them, then you need to double check what their favourite colour is before you actually go through with this.

You also need to get swatches of different shades for you to test on the wall. A lot of the time a colour looks completely different in the tin to what it looks on the wall which can be super annoying. But, the last thing that you need is for it not to turn out the way that you wanted and be disappointed.

Have A Theme

It might even be a good idea to choose a theme to go with to redecorate their room. Think about something that they love, and it’s got to be something that stands out among all of their other likes and interests. If you can’t think of a theme yourself, then try to get some information out of them discreetly by asking them questions at random times. At the dinner table is a great time to do this as it looks just like casual chit chat about their lives.

You need to be sure before you start redecorating with a theme though. It’s imperative that you do not do this unless you are 100% sure that they are going to love it. You don’t want them to be disappointed with the work that you have done, do you? Absolutely not, so you need to be thorough in researching.

Let Them Help

One way to ensure that they are going to love the result is to let them help you create the new space. If you are not too attached to the idea of surprising them, allowing them to help you is a lovely experience for you both. They will be able to tell you exactly what they want, with you being able to voice your ideas and giving them little nudges in more practical directions when needed.

Not only are you getting the best of both worlds when it comes to design, but you are also giving yourself a lovely chance to bond with your child. They are going to love the fact that you asked them to help, and it will be a nice way for you to spend some more time together, especially when it constantly seems as though there are not enough hours in the day.

Depending on the age of your kid, there are certain tasks that they will and won’t be able to help with. Manage your expectations of the practical help for younger kids, as they simply won’t be able to do it all.

Ask Them What They Want

If you don’t necessarily want them to help but you are worried that they won’t like what you do, then you can simply outright ask them what they would like. Of course, you do not have to do everything that they say, but you can use this to get some ideas so that you have confidence in the fact that they will like the finished result. You can either ask them what kind of theme they would like best, if there is anything that they would love to have in their bedroom, and questions like this to get a feel for what direction you should be heading in.

Order Special Pieces

The final thing that we’re going to say is that you should consider ordering special pieces for their bedroom that you know they would love. For example, if they are quite the little gamer then you can look at getting a gaming bed for them. This is something that not everyone has and will feel special to your child which of course is the goal. You can also consider getting a special desk that allows them to have their console and TV while also having space to display some of their gaming memorabilia.

Or, perhaps you want to have a swinging chair in the corner of the room if this is something that they would like. Of course a lot of these pieces are expensive, so you need to be committed before you purchase them. Ensure that you will be able to assemble them and hang them if needed, as the last thing that you want is to purchase something that you are unable to sort out for them.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you’re going to need to do in order to create an amazing bedroom for your kid. It’s important that you’re not overthinking this and giving yourself time to second guess the decisions that you have made, as this tends to be when things get complicated. You know your kid, so just get on with it as best you can, we promise everything will be absolutely fine.
