How often have you made plans to work out and then skipped it because you do not have the time? If you are like most, then you probably also procrastinate when it comes to exercise. However, you no longer have to engage in hours-long workouts to experience the benefits. Now, you can simply engage in a 5-minutes intense workout at a time to boost your health, lose weight and strengthen your body.
How 5-minute workouts help?
You may have never considered working out for only five minutes. It doesn’t sound like it’s enough to make a difference. To be honest, it doesn’t compare to full aerobic activity or a 10km run. However, that does not mean a short, high-intensity workout cannot help.
Many benefits can come from regular, short, and intense exercise. Some of these benefits include but are not restricted to losing weight, getting better sleep and increasing your energy level. If you work out, you will also feel more confident about your body. In addition, it will keep you fit and safe from various possible illnesses.
Burning through the fat
Depending on how hard you exercise, you can burn up to 20 calories per minute with a high-intensity interval workout. However, the real benefit of the activity becomes apparent when you are finished with it. Engaging in an intense 5-minute workout helps you burn more fat all day. You can experience an afterburn effect of the exercise for up to 48 hours after your session. Your body continues to consume excess fat, ensuring a significant health improvement.
Setting Up a 5-Minute Workout
There are a few pre-requisites before engaging in an intense 5-minute workout for weight loss.
- First of all, you should ensure that you have the physical capability to carry out such vigorous activity. You may check with your physician for any health concerns.
- Secondly, you should ensure you have the proper equipment for your fitness level. A beginner’s workout doesn’t require any special equipment. This concern comes much later.
- Add dumbbells weight, resistance bands, medicine balls, etc., into your workout routine as you progress in your fitness level.
- Finally, always hydrate yourself. Intense, quick workouts expel a lot of water from your body. So hydrate yourself throughout the day to keep yourself healthy.
5-Minute Workout Formula #1
Do the following exercises for a single minute each. You may rest up to 15 seconds between each activity. However, it is preferable to not rest between the exercises at all.
- Burpees
- Jumping jacks
- Mountain climbers
- Pushups
- Running
5-Minute Workout Formula #2
Do 12 repetitions of each of the following exercises. Rest no more than a few seconds between each exercise. Then, repeat the sequence as many times as possible within 5-minutes.
- Bicycle crunches
- Jump lunges
- Jump squats
- Pushups
Tips for 5-Minute Workouts
It doesn’t matter if you are busy as a bee; it’s not hard to take only 5-minutes out of your day to engage in the physical exercise routine. However, there may be occasions when you simply cannot get the workout completed. However, it doesn’t mean that you give up.
Never giving up is the key to success in anything, especially exercise. Try to remain as consistent in your daily workout routine as possible. Also, never forget to take appropriate nutrition every day. Eating the right foods is just as much crucial as maintaining the exercise routine.
Finally, stay on track until your weight goals are achieved.

It’s amazing what you can do for your fitness in such a short amount of time. My husband and I do 10 minutes of strength every morning followed by 10 minutes of yoga. Having a quick and easy routine makes it more doable for many people.

Five minutes a day seems so doable! I feel like I’ll want to add this into my normal exercise days, because why not?! I do a lot of cardio for triathlon training so it would be great to add in more push ups/abs/etc. and if I tell myself it’s just 5 minutes then there’s no excuse. Lol
