If there is anything that will help make keeping the house cleaner, easier, I am always going to opt for that. Working and being a parent is time consuming, as well as working and playing with children, you have the cooking, the cleaning, home work and everything else to fit in as well as hoping for a bit of time to relax and enjoy something for you as well.
I remember seeing futuristic programmes when I was younger of robots and technology helping everyday life and it was make believe. Now, we are in the times where it is here. We don’t have robots walking around, well, we don’t in our house anyway! But, there are robot vacuums and robot mops to help with the cleaning, how incredible is technology.

I was recently sent a iRobot Roomba i7 robot vacuum cleaner to try out. The Roomba i7 has powerful 3-stage cleaning system packs. Power-lifting suction and an edge-sweeping brush that gets along walls and corners. Dual multi-surface rubber brushes adjusts to different floor types and avoids getting tangled with pet hair. It also features Dirt Detect™ technology to focus on the dirtier spots, like the high-traffic areas of your home.
A full suite of advanced sensors allow this robot to navigate under and ground furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect keeps it from falling down the stairs. You can focus on your busy schedule and rely on the intelligence of the Roomba i7 Robot Vacuum to take care of the cleaning. It learns where and when you normally clean to offer personalised schedules. It will even suggest extra cleaning during allergy or pet-shedding season.

The robot learns your home’s layout to build Smart Maps. It uses these maps to clean in neat rows and to remember where it left off when the battery was low, using Smart Recharge and Resume to charge enough to finish the job and quickly return to where it left off.
The robot can be connected to Google assistant, Siri shortcuts and Amazon Alexa. I used my app to control it, creating smart maps and to start the clean. I love how easily the robot gets under furniture, it is usually a pain to get right under the bed to vacuum but the robot resolves that problem completely.

We have a clothes rail in one of the bedrooms and the robot managed to climb over the legs to continue its cleaning without a problem. Within the box, you receive a sensor that you can put next to a door way or somewhere else you want the robot to avoid, for example the pet bowls, you can set it to a straight line, which I did when I wanted it to stay in the room, or within a semi-circle space, which would be perfect for pet bowls.
The downsides of the robot are that it can’t get under our bedside cabinets that have a smaller opening underneath, so I still need to get those areas with a handheld vacuum, unless I want to move them before each vacuum, which I don’t. It is also noisy, I had visions of leaving it to clean during the night whilst we slept and the electricity is cheaper. However, I charge it overnight and then let it vacuum during that day. I don’t leave it plugged in constantly to save electricity and I set it to go on my app, when I am ready.
I would recommend the iRobot Roomba i7, I love how I can just set it to go and my app and then it returns to its base once it is complete. When it gets blocked with excess hair, it stops vacuuming and alerts me on the app to clear the brush, it then continues from where it left off. It definitely frees up time, I would have otherwise spent vacuuming and allows me to do other things, like enjoying lunch with Morgana. I’d also like to mention the customer service who are superb, if I have had a query, I have messaged the regular customer support address and they have been efficient, knowledgeable and friendly.
