Rusty Rivets features Rusty, who uses his imagination and resourcefulness to save the day when needed. He repurposes spare parts and other objects he finds to come up with his very own cool contraptions. One of his first inventions was a robotic dinosaur, Botasaur, who quickly became he trusty sidekick. With the help of his team of trusty robots, Rusty uses his knowledge of science and technology to help the citizens of Sparkton Hills overcome a series of problems.
Lucas was sent* a Botasaurus which aims to encourage children to use their imagination, taking him apart and rebuilding him before making their own adventures with him. The Rusty Rivets Botasaur comes in the pack built with feet for him to walk and there are also wheels included for children to change him to wheel around.
All the parts are interchangeable so they can design the Botasaur how they like. They are easy to clip in and take apart again. However, I do think it is a little flimsy unfortunately. On the advertising video, the child can be seen moving the Botasaur up and down by pushing the tail, when Lucas tries this, the tail falls off. One of the wheel/leg joints also broke where it looks like it hasn’t been glued on strong enough too. The Botasaur has a seat on him but doesn’t come with a character to sit on him, we tried to fit duplo men in it but they are too big.
The Botasaur is also interactive, if you press the button on his head, his eyes light up blue, green or red and he makes some Botasaur noises too which Lucas likes.
The Botasaur is part of the Rusty Rivets Build Me Rivet System so if you have any of the other toys from this range, they can also be used and interchanged, to further allow the child to use their imagination when building.
