The New Era of Jewellery for Younger Women

April 10, 2025 by Jenni

Today’s generations are different from those of the past, and women are no different. Jewellery for younger women of Gen-Z age and slightly above is thought about in pretty specific ways. Taking cues from the past, geometric, vibrant, and bold designs are still popular with women today.

From taking a minimalist approach to layering your favourite pieces, here are some examples.

Quality Over Quantity

It has long been said that quality is better than quantity, and it’s absolutely true! For understated elegance and individual style, it helps to find the best pieces that speak softly and shine boldly. Quiet luxury is all about quality without the noise, and Rare Carat is the best place to buy diamonds online. Many of the world’s icons and younger women follow trends, and today, the trend of sophistication over-exuberance is catching on and can save money in the long term.

A Minimalist Approach

Minimalism is nothing new, but younger generations today are embracing it more. Younger Millennial women, Gen-Z females, and Gen Alpha girls prefer simple and understated designs such as thin chains and pendants. They understand that you don’t need to wear outlandish and brash pieces to say what you need to say and look and feel your best. Classic small hoop earrings and studs are also popular and make excellent gifts for the younger women in your life.

Sustainable Jewellery for Younger Women

According to the World Economic Forum, 62% of Gen-Z people prefer to use sustainable brands, and 73% are willing to pay more for eco-friendly products. Anything from watches to wedding jewellery is available from companies that manufacture in a sustainable way. This includes sourcing the materials used in an ethical manner, using recycled materials, and even shipping, transportation, and packaging. Brilliant Earth, Mejuri, and Aurate are great examples.

Layering Pieces for Personal Style

Layering is a common method of getting more from the jewellery you wear. Essentially, you take pieces that go well together and combine them for a unique style. It relies on using multiples of the same type, such as matching thick rings with short ones for a unique stack or short and long necklaces. This has become a common trend in modern fashion, and excellent results can be achieved when done correctly. Of course, colours, materials, and tones must blend well.

Statement Pieces and Individualism

For all the minimalism and sustainability younger women today prefer, statement pieces are still a thing. Of course, overdoing it with statement pieces is gaudy and never looks well. But you can create something personalised and eye-catching with specific items. Bold pendants, oversized hoop earrings, and chunky chains are common examples. Just don’t use too many bold pieces, or you will end up looking like Taylor Swift in the music video for Shake It Off!

Summary

Choosing quality over quantity is a common choice for younger women who want jewellery, as it plays into financial and sustainability practices. Most Gen-Z women indeed prefer sustainable jewellery. Despite this, even bold statement pieces are still a thing in modern women’s fashion.
