What To Do When Your Partner Is Going Bald

March 22, 2023 by Jenni

Collaborative post

Baldness is nothing to be ashamed of and shouldn’t be anything to worry about. I shouldn’t even have to write an article like this. Unfortunately, society has taught men that going bald is one of the worst things to happen to them. Especially if they start losing their hair when young!

Very few men want to go bald, which makes it hard for them to deal with the realisation that male pattern baldness is setting in. As a partner, you have a pretty important job to do. This is their version of a crisis. If you’ve been with your partner for a long time, this might be the first time you see them in a vulnerable state. Men are great at hiding their emotions, but this all changes when they start going bald.

So, what should you do in this situation? More to the point, is there anything you can do?! You don’t want to overstep yourself or say something that worsens things. In reality, there are only two things you should do in this situation to help your partner feel better:

Reinforce your love for them

Why do men hate going bald? A handful of reasons emerge, but it all boils down to one main issue: self-confidence. Your partner worries they won’t be attractive anymore if they lose their hair. Especially if their hair is something you bring up or have brought up before as a standout feature.

Sometimes, all they need is a bit of reassurance. Remind them how much you love them and why you love them. Let them know that it has nothing to do with their hair and that you will love them regardless of how many follicles are on their head. Better yet, show them how much you love and care for them.

When they see and hear this, it’ll make them realise that maybe there’s nothing to worry about at all.

Support them at all times.

Some men struggle with going bald because they love their hair. They appreciate that you don’t care, but it’s a personal issue for them. It’s the same as when you moan about getting wrinkles or not looking young anymore. They’ll tell you nothing to worry about, and you’re as gorgeous as the day you met. But, it’s personal for you, so you still go out and get anti-ageing products.

Whatever your man chooses to do, be sure you support them. Be there through it all, whether it’s an FUE hair transplant or any other treatment. Don’t tell them it’s a silly idea or a waste of money. If they’re seriously affected by going bald, you should support them no matter what they choose to do.

At the end of the day, if having hair makes them happy, then that’s all that matters.

Some men react differently to others when it comes to baldness. But, all men will have a period where they feel self-conscious and worried about losing their hair. Reinforce your love for them, and see if this tackles the problem. If their worries stem from internal feelings of unattractiveness and a fear of losing you, this should calm them down and make them embrace baldness. If they’re still scared and anxious, know you’ll help them do whatever it takes to feel happy and secure again.
