With spring just around the corner, you may want to do some spring cleaning and spruce up your home. Whether you redecorate or simply do some deep cleaning, there are ways to make your home look like it came right out of a magazine.
If you’re feeling like you want to do something to make your home look better than ever, follow these 5 tips that have always helped me when I want to spruce things up a bit:
Have flowers in your home
Have you ever walked into a coffee shop or home and something just felt so fresh? What was it? More than likely, that home or store had plants and flowers. There is just something so inviting about having a “garden” inside your home. While it would be lovely to step outside and pick wildflowers, this isn’t possible for everyone. Instead, you can order flowers online and have them delivered to you every few days when it’s time to replace the old, wilted ones. Believe us; it’s worth it. If you prefer plants, make sure to choose ones that are able to survive indoors.
Repaint your home
An affordable option is to repaint a common area of your home. Sometimes, things can get old fast, no matter how much you loved your home décor when you first set it up. Instead of replacing all of your furniture and décor-which would be costly-pick out a color that will match what you already have but that will add some variety (and spice) to your living room or dining area. It will make you feel like you have a new home, even though it’s the same old, same old.
Paint yourself some home décor
Instead of shopping around and trying to find art that you like and that combines well with your home, why not do something creative and create your own art? Whether it’s painting a unique headboard for your bed or creating artistic pieces for your living room, you will be able to DIY the exact art you’re looking for. Maybe you don’t paint; but do you work with wood? Create a masterpiece with some woodwork decor for a rustic-themed living room. There are endless options for DIY home décor, so find your skill and consider using it for your home’s decorations.
Add a rug to your living room floor
It’s a simple fix: throw down a rug and voila, your room looks like a new one. Whether you’re trying to update your bedroom look or add some life to your living room, there is nothing that the right rug can’t fix. Keep in mind that as a large piece in your room set-up, make sure it combines well with the rest of the room or else you will have a big eye-sore to contend with. From thin cloth throws to thick, wool rugs, there are a variety of options to choose from.
Sew yourself some throw pillows
Are you looking for new hobbies for the extra time you spend at home while updating your home décor? Why not sew some throw pillows? Not only will you stay busy but you’ll be adding to your living room or bedroom décor. The nice thing about this DIY project is that you get to create the perfect pillows that combine with your home, instead of having to shop around in various stores or wait forever for pillows to arrive from ordering online. You’ll need to make sure to have all the items you need but your local craft store should have them or you can always choose from sewing subscription boxes like Annie’s Fat Quarter Club or Sew What Box.
Make Your Home a Place You Love
While some of these ideas could mean an investment, for the most part, they are relatively easy and affordable ways to spruce up your home. From DIY ideas to cheap options for updating your home’s style, you can change things up just in time for the changing of seasons. Enjoy!
