Over the years, I think eating family meals together has declined. More and more people are eating with their dinner on their knee in front of the TV or giving the children their meals and then eating later when their other half has returned from work and the children are in bed. When new houses are built now, they rarely have dining rooms in like they used to. Many have a part of the kitchen or living room that can fit a table, eating around the table together seems to have gone out of fashion which I don’t really like.
There are some beautiful oak dining room furniture from Lifestyle Furniture to fit various spaces including smaller tables and larger tables as well as extending tables so you only use the space when needed. Oak wood is renowned for its strength, natural warmth and beauty, as well as its reassuring durability, oak furniture is the ideal choice for timeless furniture that will only look better the longer it is in your home

I’m not sure whether I liked it at the time but I love that we sat together as a family when we finished school and my parents had finished work and it is something I want to continue with Lucas.
Family meals can be a time when there are no distractions from phones, iPads and the TV. A time where we can talk to each other properly about what we have been doing in the day, a time where if Lucas needs to, he can tell us anything that is upsetting him.
Eating together also encourages healthy eating, getting into habits of eating the same meals including vegetables. It’s a great place to explore new foods, you could choose some new vegetables in the shop then look for different ways to cook them together before eating and make it into a game.
