I was recently asked if I would like to review a piece of jewellery from Kaya Jewellery. I hadn’t heard of the brand before so I popped over to their site to have a nosy. Kaya Jewellery have an assortment of products to celebrate the special moments in life you want to treasure, birth, christenings, birthdays, weddings etc. They sell mother and daughter jewellery sets so you can show you belong together and little girls can have their own grown up jewellery. There are pretty gemstones, beads and sterling silver. A lot of the pieces can also be personalised with names, dates and special messages.
I chose a personalised silver chain charm bracelet*, I like simple jewellery and thought this would be understated and pretty. When ordering, you choose which packaging you would like out of either a gift box or a gift pouch. You choose what you like hand engraved, up to 8 letters and what you would like on the other side from the options. There are various phrases and letters to choose from. I chose heart charm to be hand engraved with ‘Lucas’ and on the back I have ‘love you to the moon and back’. I would have preferred it if there was an option to have no engraving on the back. I also chose to receive it in a gift box.
On opening the parcel when it arrived, I like the presentation. It arrived in a pretty pink gift box with a cute little bow on. There was also a polishing cloth to keep the bracelet in tip top condition. The gift box is lined with the bracelet placed inside. Unfortunately, as soon as I picked the bracelet up I was disappointed. It is very light weight and if it didn’t have the hallmarking on, I would question whether it is actually silver. ‘Lucas’ is beautifully engraved onto it but the hallmark is immediately below it, which I think ruins the appearance. If there was an option to have no engraving on one side, I think the hand engraving would have looked lovely on the plain side and then you would just have the hallmark on the other side. In the photos on the website, there is no sign of the hallmark which I find to be misleading as I expected a plain charm with only engraving on. I would have been really upset if I had spent money on this for a special gift for someone. The bracelet retails from £32.95 for baby size to £38.95 for large adult sized.
I do like companies that support charities and owner Tanja also supports children who are not as privileged as ours, she gives part of her profit to charity through the Eduki Foundation in the Netherlands. Last year she donated €2,500 to pay for the education of 10 children in Gambia.
