The comfort of your mattress is a significant factor in whether you get a luxurious night’s sleep. Therefore, the quality of the mattress you purchase is vastly essential.

Without the desired amount of sleep, we cannot heal or rejuvenate our bodies, making the mattress one of the most beneficial products you can buy to impact our health and well-being significantly.

As when we’re tired, our brains struggle to process emotions and store memories. Mattresses should be replaced every 6 to 8 years dependant or even sooner depending on the following factors:

  • Your current mattress is negatively affecting the levels of sleep you manage to get.
  • The mattress is becoming noticeably saggy or damaged in certain areas.
  • It starts to make more noise than usual if you prefer sleeping elsewhere—for example, in a hotel or a friend’s house. You notice an increase in symptoms of your allergies, regularly waking up with joint pain or stiffness.

Then it would help if you changed your mattress.

Although a mattress is hidden under sheets and blankets for most of its life, making it unclear to work out what condition it is in, but if it is starting to give you any of the problems. Sleep is the most critical aspect of health, with many links to a lack of sleep causing other illnesses.

Therefore, if you are experiencing any of the factors we have mentioned, it is probably time to say goodbye to your mattress and buy yourself a new one.

If you do your research and find the right mattress type and style personally suited to you, you will notice how much of an impact your old mattress has on your lifestyle.

Factors that influence how long a particular mattress may last

It is tough to predict how long a mattress may last, but a cheaper mattress is generally more likely to degrade quicker than if you were to invest in a luxury mattress.

The material used to manufacture the mattress also dramatically influences its durability. Latex mattresses are usually the most durable. Most materials also have different variants which have differing durability.

When buying an innerspring or hybrid mattress, look for a lower coil gauge. It is preferable to go for those with a higher foam density and latex mattresses if you buy foam mattresses. It would help if you went for natural latex.

A lot depends on how well you maintain and care for the mattress. Mattresses generally last longer for those who undergo the correct routines with their mattress, including regularly turning or flipping the mattress, having a mattress protector, and cleaning your mattress on a 6-month basis. To ensure you maximise the whole life span of your mattress.

Another factor will be the sleeper size and the total weight which the mattress will have to endure. Heavy sleepers will find their mattress will sag quicker. A mattress accommodating a couple is also more likely to degrade faster than a mattress just accommodating an individual.

As we all know, some houses are a lot more manic than others, with children and pets being a significant factor in this.

This can also be a factor that impacts mattress durability. If you share your bed with your small children or pets, this will most likely mean you need to replace your mattress more frequently because they are most likely to cause stains or damage the mattress.

Why is a new mattress worth the cost?

It is not beyond me how much you may have to pay for a brand-new mattress that suits your exact needs. However, if you struggle to get the required sleep getting a new mattress is just a small price to pay for the endless hours of luxury sleep you would experience.

When should you replace your mattress? Mattresses should be replaced every 6 to 8 years dependant on various factors. Read more to find out
