Carrot and coriander soup with cheese and tomato ciabatta

With the Autumn well and truly arriving in the UK, complete with blustery winds and enough rain to cause floods to what where our local villages, now is the time to be making the most of movie days, closing the curtains and getting tucked up under cosy blankets. TJ Hughes sent me some bits to help us get prepared for Autumn. TJ Hughes is a discount department store specialising in home, fashion, fragrance and cosmetics, garden furniture, technology and electricals. They offer premium brands at up to 70% off RRP.

Lucas and I tucked up on a chair with blanket over us

Lucas and I had a lovely relaxing day together at my parents and decided to make lunch for them. We made carrot and coriander soup for lunch with the Tower soup maker we received. We followed a recipe from BBC good food and it was absolutely delicious. Lucas really enjoyed making it with me, sitting at the worktop, chopping carrots up. The soup maker was incredibly easy to use, you simply chop all the ingredients and place them in the soup maker, you turn it on, deciding whether you want it chunky or smooth. We chose smooth and within 21 minutes, the soup maker had blended and heat the soup up to perfection. It couldn’t be any more simple and it was easy to clean after too! The soup maker can also be used as a blender or to make smoothies and milkshakes.

To go with the soup, we made some toasted ciabatta sandwiches with cheese and tomatoes on the Quest delux health grill. The health grill was as simple as the soup maker to use, featuring an adjustable thermostat, non stick plates, a hinged, adjustable lid and indicator lights for ‘Power on’ and ‘Ready to cook.’

Fairy light lit up vases

After a delicious lunch, what more could you want but to get snuggled up under a blanket to watch a film (Halloween and Christmas family films are my favourites). We got the teddy bear throw which is supersoft and makes a great finishing touch for Autumn, Winter decor. To complete our relaxing theme, we also got a wax burner to fill the room with a warming vanilla and coconut scent. Winter decor isn’t complete without some twinkly lights so we also chose some gorgeous LED glass jars to transform the room with warm ambient lighting.
