This past couple of weeks Lucas has developed the paddy, one minute everything is fine in his world and the next, maybe because the kitchen door is no longer open or because Postman Pat has stopped playing, he will throw himself to the floor. He has a little thrash around and cry then goes still and you can see him wondering why he put himself there and he pops his head up, says Hiya and continues as if nothing had happened. He’s also developed a horrible scream, it goes through me, it gives me a headache, I hope this one is a short phase.

So when D offered to take Lucas to the park so I could go back to bed, I happily obliged. I’m not one that can go back to sleep though, if I’ve got up with Lucas at 5.30 there’s no way I can settle back a couple of hours later. By then I feel like it’s the middle of the day so instead of sleeping, I ran a bath and had a relaxing soak.

A little time to myself

I then made myself a nice hotΒ Beanies coffee*, at the moment I am loving their Cookie Dough and Decaf Irish Cream flavours. At only 2 calories per cup and 100% sugar free they are the perfect guilt free treat. Β I sat down and enjoyed my coffee in silence with Jodi Picoult’sΒ Leaving Time. It’s been ages since I read a book and I love Jodi Picoult’s writing, she captivates me every time. I’m half way through it now and really wouldn’t do it justice so here is the blurb….

‘Jenna Metcalf was with her mother the night she disappeared, but she remembers nothing.

In the wake of those tragic events, she has lost not one parent, but two: her father is in an asylum, and now she lives with her grandmother – who finds it too painful to talk about what happened.

Ten years on, Jenna is the only one who still seems to care. And she is determined to seek the truth, no matter how shocking and life-changing it might be . . .’

  4. I enjoy simple crafting when I need to relax. At the moment I’m slowly upcycling an old chair to cover the upholstery with patchwork of old material. I’m also planning on upcycling an old photo frame with stray buttons today because I haven’t slept much and it will be fairly easy to do!

  5. my me time is very limited with 6 children, but when i do get some time i love to sit and read or do cross stitch πŸ™‚

  6. Get into bed and read a book. Im a massive fan of elizabeth chadwick (historical fiction) and I cant wait for the next one to come out.

nothing like a good book to take your attention away from the real world πŸ˜€

  7. Always reading if I can – it’s now a luxury to be able to sit down in peace and read a book for whatever time I can.

  8. Put my feet up, chill with my chug Arthur and watch a bit of tele with a cuppa or occasionally a glass of wine xx

  9. I love flavoured coffee Ive not tried cookie Dough not seen that in my local shops. But I love vanilla and caramel so I know Ill love these flavours πŸ™‚

  10. As a working Mum of two, it can be exhausting some days, but I always spend time and read and complete homework with the children every night, so when they’ve gone to bed, I make myself a nice milky coffee, sit with the TV on, paint my nails and maybe a face mask xx

  11. Depending on the time of day: take the dog for a walk, or have a long hot bath with a good book and a small glass of wine then a good horror DVD.

  12. I used to take time to myself for granted! Now with a baby and toddler its near on impossible. When I do I love a bubble bath, a good book and a glass of wine xx

  13. I have far too many hobbies to keep up with properly – birdwatching, playing video games, reading, crochet and of course entering competitions!

  14. I don’t get much time to myself as I run 2 businesses, but when I have chance I like to relax with a good book and candlelit bath

  15. If it’s in the morning, a cup of coffee on the sofa with my laptop. If it’s in the afternoon or evening, substitute the coffee for a glass of Merlot.

  16. I have grand plans to be creative or productive, but usually I just end up watching TV and wasting time online.

  17. I like to read, which I simply don’t get enough time to do. When the weather is fine, I like to sit outside to read and enjoy a hot drink in peace, but I settle for the sofa when it’s raining or really cold.

  18. I very often find myself sitting down going through the tv channels and adding things that I don’t have time to watch! LOL

  19. I love to watch the tv, do a little bit of online shopping and looking for next years holiday bargains on the laptop.

  20. Try to get time to relax. Sometimes read. Sometimes watch an afternoon film :- For me a good afternoon film should be ‘a feel good film’, musical, happy film, etc. ) Oh, how disappointed I am when it is a film which has violence, a thriller, etc :- As these films surely are unsuitable for the afternoon. As young children can be around, some aspects of the film could be frightening for them, even the music on occasions from a thriller, etc. Also I do want to try and concentrate on every aspect to determine :- Who Done It? In the afternoon. I just want some Peace, Relaxation, ” Take It Easy” Time.

    • Should read :- Do Not Want to Concentrate on every aspect, in order to determine :- Who Done It? In the Afternoon, and when young children may be around.
